Have you ever faced limited learning options, the high price of private schools or dissatisfaction with local public schools? If so, I advise you to take a closer look at homeschooling. Home studying is the education of children at house or other place except for school. As a rule, home education is provided by a parent or an online teacher. Obviously, as every school system, homeschooling has its own advantages and disadvantages. Now, let me tell you about them.
To start with, I must admit that house education will improve your learning skills efficiency. In this case, while you sit in school for nearly 8 hours, home studying may only take you a few hours each day. Furthermore, it allows you to have more time for extracurricular activities and other courses you were not able to attend before.
Apart from this, you might have an individual attendance plan and instructions. I mean that you get more attention from your teacher while home alone than when you are in a class with 30 pupils more. I am sure I do not have to explain that even when schools have different levels of work for different abilities within a class, there will be some pupils who are bored and some who do not understand. This way, with home education you get a wonderful opportunity to concentrate only on your studying and knowledge, not other ones. In addition, you can take a break whenever you wish as well as enjoy some possible off-season vacation.
The last but not least to mention is an absence of peer pressure. Recent research has shown that the teenage years can be really stressful and depressing, especially for those being bullied. In fact, peer pressure can be dangerous, leading some teens to experiment on unhealthy lifestyle that they might not wish to try in normal circumstances. Eventually, home educated children are usually confident in their abilities and less likely to fall under the influence of peers.
However, there are some drawbacks of studying at home. First of all, you might experience the lack of friends. For instance, while some children are making friends at school or some after-school clubs, it can sometimes become a real challenge to find friends when educated at home. Even though there are more opportunities of going round with local people of all ages, homeschooling can give you a feeling of self-isolation.
Moreover, house studying can be expensive. It comes without saying that you should pay for all the textbooks, written materials, books, art supplies your own. Nevertheless, if you want to take your final exams, you will have to pay an extra fee for every test as a private student. Also, further education in a university may be unusual and difficult for you.
To sum up, there are both pros and cons of homeschooling. Therefore, if you are interested in it, try house studying at least for a short time period and you will see whether it is your cup of tea or not.
